COVID-19 Guidelines


On-campus and off-campus COVID-19 vaccinations:

COVID-19 vaccines are available to all University of Miami employees through the Walgreens in UHealth Tower at 1400 NW 12th Avenue. Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 305-702-9066. Additionally, faculty and staff can find vaccination locations nearest them by visiting vaccinefinder.org.

Currently, COVID-19 vaccination is free for everyone who lives in the U.S.

Important dates: 

Coral Gables and Marine campus faculty and staff employees:

  • Official Launch: June 2021
  • Exemption Submission Deadline: Sunday, August 1, 2021
  • Faculty and Staff Compliance Deadline: Sunday, August 1, 2021
    • Update: All faculty, staff, and postdoctoral associates employed by the University on the Coral Gables and Marine campuses who are currently eligible for the COVID-19 booster must upload proof of vaccination, or seek an approved exemption in Workday by Jan. 18, 2022. Employees who are not yet eligible for a booster will remain in compliance.

UHealth/MSOM campus faculty and staff employees (as communicated on July 29, 2021):

  • Exemption Submission Deadline: Monday, September 20, 2021
  • Faculty and Staff Compliance Deadline: Monday, September 20, 2021
    • Update: All faculty, administrative, research, and support staff will need to be up to date with their vaccine series by Feb. 28, 2022, or have an approved medical or religious exemption on file. Employees who are not yet eligible for a booster will remain in compliance.


 

Exemptions: 

To ensure the safety of our workforce, the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine/UHealth System requires that all UHealth faculty and staff receive influenza (flu) or request an applicable exemption prior to the hire date.

If you are applying for an exemption, please select the exemption form that applies to you and best fits your exemption request. UHealth employees shall only be granted an exemption for medical or religious reasons. 

 

 

 

Submitting exemptions in Workday:

Once you have all the supporting information and documentation completed and on hand, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Workday.
  2. From the Workday home page, click on the "WalkMe ActionBot."
    • If you do not see the ActionBot icon, click here to install the required plugin. Please note that it may take a few seconds to appear.
  3. Click "Complete Vaccination Compliance."
  4. Continue by following the prompts.

For individuals not using the WalkMe ActionBot or for individuals accessing Workday through a browser on a mobile device, please review the Vaccine Compliance tip sheet.

Appealing the exemption decision:

If you would like to appeal the determination of your exemption request, please submit a letter of appeal within three (3) business days of your Workday notification to the Vaccine Exemption Appeal Committee at VaccineExemptionAppeal@miami.edu.
