The purpose of the Chemical Safety Program is to establish institutional requirements for the safe management of chemicals and other hazardous materials throughout their entire lifecycle in order to protect human health, property, and the environment. The program is designed to minimize risks to students, faculty, staff, temporary employees, contractors, visitors, and the surrounding community by defining responsibilities and implementing standards for the storage, handling, use, and control of chemicals. This program applies to all University of Miami personnel and authorized individuals whose activities involve the use, storage, or management of chemicals.
